WPI Satellite Development Club
The Satellite Development Club (SDC) from WPI is a group of space enthusiasts building CubeSats to facilitate development of students’ technical and professional skills through the investigation of space technologies.
The Satellite Development Club (SDC) from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute is designing and building a CubeSat, a small and inexpensive satellite, to take a journey into low Earth orbit.
What inspired you to make this project?:
The Satellite Development Club was formed following the completing of an independent student project of an electronics board for a CubeSat. There was so much interest in continuing the project, that a club was started. Initially, poor leadership nearly ended the club until fall 2015 when a new president took charge and rallied a community of space enthusiasts from WPI. We redefined club goals and competed in the NASA Cube Quest Centennial Challenge which provided us with a competition to get our new club off the ground. Now the challenge is over, we're designing a spin-off CubeSat design for low Earth orbit. We love space, we love making, and we love sharing our enthusiasm for engineering with the world.
