Got Robots? Marauder Robot and Interactive LED Tentacle

Marauder is a giant walking, skating, dancing hexapod robot lit with over 700 RGB LEDs for a spectacular kinetic light show. The robot is over 6' long, standing 4.5' high and loves dancing with kids. The addition of passive wheels at the end of the legs allows for skating at a fast walking pace so the robot will be roaming the Faire far and wide, if not in the dark room. Watch out! Riding along with Marauder is Blader, a tiny version of the bigger robot! New this year is the Tripod Tentacle interactive art project. Come find it in the dark room and drive it around with a PS4 controller... The Tentacle is a 2-stage prototype of the planned 4-stage robotically driven LED lit tentacle and is a lot of fun to play with, albeit just a little creepy 😉

The cloud chamber is one of the first particle detectors invented by physicists to be able to observe the world of the infinitely small. This project revisits the tool of the early '900 in a DIY key and, thanks to its open source foundation and being developed specifically for schools, is aimed at the dissemination of science. This year we present a new version of the electronic board (PCB) for the control of the various components that are part of the machine, in ways to make self-construction even easier, especially for school realities and young people.

Beer2D2 is a Homebrewed Robot built using a 5 Liter Heineken mini beer Keg. He was originally built in 2010 for RoboGames. He is now on a second rebuild. The Robot uses 4 drive train motors (Hacked Servos) two Vantec rdfr motor speed controllers a 2.4 Ghz Radio control for basic maneuvering. He also runs in Autonomus Mode using a Huskylens Video camera and an Arduino. He has a 15 Watt Stereo sound system a Bluetooth Audio reciever. A Color Organ that blinks Leds to the Audio signals. He has 15 sensors read by an a second Arduino that Talks to a Android Phone through another Bluetooth connection and a custom app using Voice Recognition and Text to Speech. He's basically a Talking Tricorder and entertainment Robot But that's not all he even has a brand new Trailer

NLAB: The Mini Electronics Lab (late)

NLAB: the mini electronics lab, is a STEM toolkit used to teach circuit design, building, testing, and debugging. At our booth attendees will be invited to sit down and learn how to build a circuit. We will have 4 stations, each with a laptop, lab kit with wire, wire strippers, breadboard, resistors, LEDs, and other electronic components. We will have 2 instructors to guide attendees and answer questions, as well as headphones and videos to watch. Attendees will build a circuit that turns on an LED and reads from a light sensor, all from scratch. Advanced users will be invited to build even more complicated circuits. We expect each person to spend 5-10 minutes building.

At the Full Contact Engineering booth you can play tunes on a custom-designed Electric guitar fitted with sound-reactive neopixel LED lights, get brainwashed by a 15-pixel LED matrix display, inspect a battle-worn 15lb Combat Robot that recently competed at SXSW 2024, and even wave hello to a friendly dynamic and reactive Hexapod Robot. These projects are the culmination of years of messing with electronics and are a blast to interact with and talk about. Come and see some awesome projects by Dorian Todd at this interactive and fun booth.
