YORB2020

YORB2020

YORB2020 is a multi-user social space online, created at NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program in response to the quarantine conditions of COVID-19, this project attempts to provide the ITP community with a shared virtual space to hang out, collaborate and work near each other.

For Empire State Maker Faire, we showcased some student work. Here are the details:

  • Toilet Paper Mania
    by Yiting Liu

A virtual museum in the shape of toilet paper roll invites you to relive, rethink, and reflect your change of behaviors towards the toilet paper mania during COVID-19.

  • Bubble World
    by Sihan Zhang

Interact with bubbles in the browser by moving your hands/head.

  • ITP Weather Band
    presented by Schuyler Devos

ITP Weather Band is an ITP club dedicated to exploring the sonification and musical implications of weather data.

What inspired you to make this project?:
Yorb draws its inspiration from a 1990s interactive television show YORB (Your Orb) created by Dan O'Sullivan for Manhattan Neighborhood Network (a public access television station in New York City). It existed and evolved over several years as an ongoing project at the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at New York University.
