The current state of the art in low cost GPS receiver modules provide timing pulses with accuracy in the 10 nanosecond range. In this presentation I will show how to make a system that will continue to provide these pulses and the associated time even when the receiver can no longer provide them.
What inspired you to begin investigating your topic or inspired you to make your project?:
I have been working on applications for GPS since 1995. During that time I have always been intrigued by the precision timing capabilities of GPS receivers. Until fairly recently however using GPS for precision timing required either being physically located outdoors or having antennas mounted outside with a clear view of the sky and cabling to a receiver inside. I felt that there were other ways to do this and decided to try it.
