Black Pine Circle School is a K - 8 independent school located in Berkeley, California. Christine Mytko, upper school science teacher, facilitates the Maker Club.
BPC's middle school students share their in-progress work creating a virtual chicken coop where participants use a variety of chicken behaviors (such as scratching, pecking and flapping) to move through the virtual space.
What inspired you to make this project?:
Our school is kind of chicken-obsessed. Our middle school kids have hatched and raised chickens in science class, then worked with the garden teacher to build a chicken coop on school grounds. Concurrently, we have been exploring VR and learning about iteration during the engineering design process. We’ve decided that we want to bring an immersive chicken coop experience to the San Mateo Maker Faire in 2018.
