Fengyi Zhu
Franklin Fengyi Zhu works with computer graphics, digital video and installation. His work derives from reweighing culture and times that he has been involved in by recreating metaphorical objects and symbolic creatures through digital mediums.
For today's catch we have an imaginary creature that represent cybernetics with the brain-like appearance, movement, and the interaction between viewers and the piece invites viewers to experience an uncanny space.
What inspired you to make this project?:
Post-Industrial dystopia is what pushes me to generate ideas for many of my projects including the Blob #. A world that features advanced technological and scientific achievements juxtaposed with a degree of breakdown or radical change in the social order, the feeling of lost and peripheral to this high tech low life challenges my regard on technology. Just imagine such sci-fi creature being stored inside of a residency with poor environment, such existence creates both contradiction and harmony.
