Going from DIY Entrepreneur to Maker Pro by Convincing People to Eat Beer

Maker Faire Bay Area 2017

May 19th-21st

Presentation Food & Beverages

I founded ReGrained to enable our food system to do more with less by upcycling edible byproducts. We are a mission-driven ingredient platform that leverages technology and culinary science to transform waste into taste, health, and wealth.

We got our start as undergraduate DIY brewers where we experienced firsthand the amount of grain left behind from the brewing process first hand. So we started selling loaves of bread made with the grain in order to fund our homebrewing hobby. We’ve since launched a line of supergrain bars, partnered with some of San Francisco’s finest craft breweries, and developed technology in partnership with the USDA.

I’ll be talking through my journey from recreational entrepreneur to raising investment and hiring my first employees to create the circular economy for food. In many ways, it feels like we are still at the beginning of our journey, but I am excited to share my experience and where we are going.
