What inspired you to make this project?:
My partner demanded that we replace the inflatable pontoons from our Amphibious Trike (Maker Faire Bay Area 2014) with hard foam and fiberglass pontoons. So I had a pair of tarp sacks with air mattresses inside them, and I thought to myself, "What else can I do with these?" Making them into sailboats seemed fairly obvious, so I assigned myself the additional challenge of figuring out how to get all the materials for under $100 and make it able to be assembled from common tools.
