Laney College - Introduction to Manufacturing
Introduction to Manufacturing is a program to give young adults a chance to experience hand's on career options. At Laney College the i2m students learn the basics of Carpentry, Wood Technology, Welding, and Machining.
Laney College, specifically the students in Introduction to Manufacturing, want to bring their hand made, custom booth to show off the projects that Laney students are working on.
What inspired you to make this project?:
We had a booth at the East Bay mini Maker Faire in Oakland this Fall. It was great for letting people know about the amazing Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs that Laney College offers. It was also a lot of fun to show off the cool student projects we've done with the i2m students, such as an Eames inspired pack flat chair that we cut out on a CNC router.
For the big Maker Faire, we have an amazing group of students who are up to the challenge of coming up with a booth design, but we also want them to experience the Maker Faire, not just as spectators but also as a part of the movement.
