Robert the Robot
Maker Faire Bay Area 2026
September 25th-27th
Robert the Robot is a humanoid robot with an expressive, interactive face, designed to hold real conversations rather than just perform scripted demos. Built by RB Labs, Robert combines advanced AI with lifelike facial movement, letting visitors of all ages interact with him directly: ask him a question, tell him a joke, or just say hi and see what he says back. Robert has appeared at the World Economic Forum in Davos and at community and cultural events across the Bay Area and internationally. At Maker Faire, he'll be live and ready to chat, no script, no wait, just a robot who's genuinely curious to meet you.
We can use this at our table....
Meet Robert, a humanoid robot with an expressive, interactive face built to spark real conversation. Say hi, he talks back.
RB Labs
The RB Labs engineering team spans three cities, Geneva, Sofia, and Mountain View, and works the way makers actually work: hands-on, iterative, and comfortable fixing things in real time rather than waiting for a perfect plan. Our team builds both the hardware and the AI that bring Robert to life, from the mechanics that let him move and gesture, to the expressive face that lets him hold a real conversation. It's a small, tight-knit group that treats every event, every glitch, and every late-night fix as part of the process, not a failure of it. A good example of how we work: when Robert broke a leg on-site in San Francisco, our on-the-ground engineer had him back up and running the same day, walked through the fix in real time by a teammate 6,000 miles away in Bulgaria. Two engineers, two continents, one robot back on his feet. That's the team, and that's the spirit we bring to every build. We're excited to bring that same hands-on energy to Maker Faire, where Robert won't just be on display, he'll be live, talking, and ready to meet the people who show up.
