Big Picture Small World
Maker Faire Bay Area 2026
September 25th-27th
What happens when the smallest details become larger than life?
Big Picture, Small World invites you to explore two massive 8 × 16-foot gigapixel images filled with details normally hidden from view. Get up close with the incredible structures, colors, and textures of insects and other entomology specimens from the UC Davis Bohart Museum, then cross over into an entirely different microscopic world of circuit boards, electronics, and mechanical components. Created by the folks at GIGAmacro using robotic imaging to capture this incredible detail.
Walk right up. Look closely. See what you can find. We'll have a treasure hunt quiz and prize too! Then explore in even greater detail online.
