Scratch Disk: Presented by CADRE Student Org

Maker Faire Bay Area 2026

September 25th-27th

Exhibit Fun & Games

The San Jose State University CADRE Student Org, CADRE Alumni Org, Game Dev Club, and Laguna Interactive present Scratch Disk, an immersive art exhibit that includes digital and physical artworks and puzzles. Our story takes place in the Scratch, a pocket dimension filled with all the digital items that fall through the cracks: abandoned digital pets, bounced emails, deleted default cubes, dropped data packets, forgotten memes, and unsaved files. There, we meet the Archivist, a researcher who is trapped in the Scratch and has been cataloguing the strange creatures and phenomena while searching for a way to escape. To assist the Archivist, interact with the exhibit and solve collaboratively to unlock the secrets of the Scratch and help him find his way out!

Each puzzle station is cleared to reveal clues and secrets about the greater mystery of the exhibit. Play on a classic arcade cabinet, sift through websites for clues, and have fun in our fictional dimension of the Scratch!

In addition to the interactive exhibit, CADRE students present a collection of animated illuminated masks and several smaller projects created this year, ranging from custom computer sculptures to short video games. Check out our curated selection of student-created digital media artworks from SJSU.
