Making a Global Movement in Crisis: the story of Open Source Medical Supplies

In the nine days following its launch March 9, 2020, as the first COVID-19 travel restrictions hit the US and before most communities were enforcing social distancing standards, the Open Source COVID-19 Medical Supplies Facebook group went from 1 to over 16,000 members. On the 9th day, OSMS published their first COVID-19 Medical Supplies Guide. Now 10 weeks later, with the Supplies Guide on its 6th iteration and the Facebook group membership exceeding 73,000, OSMS has documented the global fabrication of over 7 million units of personal protective equipment, medical and community supplies by that virtual community.
