Carbon Sponge is a garden project created by artist and NYSCI Designer-in-Residence, Brooke Singer, with NYSCI Explainers. It focuses on soil health and enhancing understanding of and the capacity for sequestering carbon in soil.

Brooke Singer is a media artist and NYSCI DiR, working between science, technology, politics and art in pursuit of social change developed Carbon Sponge at NYSCI with her Explainer collaborators, Cara Lambrento and Saher Arain.

NYSCI was founded at the 1964–65 World’s Fair and has become NY's center for interactive science, offering informal, hands-on learning through exhibits, products & services that use the “design-make-play” method of bringing delight and play to STEM.
