Exhibit Art & DesignRibbon Recipient

The Little Ant, running on its treadmill, is coming from the magical but very real site called “Les Machines de l’île – Nantes, in France.

Les Machines de l’île : a totally unprecedented artistic project – often described at the crossroads of Jules Verne’s “invented worlds” and the mechanical universe of Leonardo da Vinci.

Les Machines de l'île Nantes

In 2016, 665.000 visitors were welcomed by the team of “Les Machines de l’île”. They discovered the Great Elephant, the Marine Carrousel, the Workshop of the constructors company La Machine and the Gallery which houses a laboratory and a bestiary of machines – a real performance area where each machine puts on a mini-show. It shows the entire creative process, from the first sketches to fully functioning machines and highlights the next crazy project : the Heron Tree!
