In September 2015, UTMB Health was the first medical center in the country to establish a makerspace in a hospital. UTMB's MakerHealth Space allows nurses, doctors, researchers, students, and staff members the ability to prototype and solve problems.

David Marshall Maker Picture

David Marshall

David Marshall serves as the Chief Nursing Officer for the University of Texas Medical Branch Health System. He is credited with bringing the MakerHealth Space to UTMB Health in collaboration with MakerNurse and MakerHealth.

Ben Nguyen Maker Picture

Ben Nguyen

Ben is a Vascular Technician in UTMB's Vascular Lab. His expertise in the MakerHealth Space includes 3D printing patient data, mold making and sewing. In addition to medical device prototyping, Ben is also active in the Houston cosplay community.

Rachel Murphy Maker Picture

Rachel Murphy

Rachel is an RN and Clinical Operations Administrator at UTMB. Her projects in the UTMB MakerHealth Space use the laser cutter, plastic bender and rapid prototyping station.

Meredith Hartzog Maker Picture

Meredith Hartzog

Meredith is a Nurse Clinician at UTMB and active #MakerNurse leading prototyping projects across the hospital!
