Arkansas Bespoke Leather

Arkansas Bespoke Leather

Glowforge is a desktop laser that uses a beam of light the width of a human hair to cut, engrave, and shape designs. This exhibit is a hands-on opportunity to experiment with a glowforge and leather craft design.

What inspired you to make this project?:
I taught at University for several years and the one absence in my life since becoming a full-time maker is that I don't get to teach anymore. I loved students, the collaboration, and the joy of sharing knowledge with people who were interested and engaged. I have a lot of knowledge that I would love to share with others who are interested. We can make so many cool things! I think my practice is a bit unusual in a variety of ways and I want to share this perspective with others so that we can all branch out a little.
Also, my doctoral research focuses on the added benefits to well being among makers. I believe that making practices are actually critical to our wellbeing, that living in a consumer society disincentivizes making practices. The shift from consumer to producer is critical in young lives, and I want to support maker faires everywhere as a result.
