I love Bugs - From Programming to Pollinating!

Kedar is a 8 year old programming enthusiast who loves to use code to solve problems. His recent creation - An App to Create Pollinator Gardens to Reduce Lawn Waste won him an Award in an International Innovation Challenge. He is eager to share lessons from creating the App & his Pollinator Garden!

What inspired you to begin investigating your topic or inspired you to make your project?:
I wanted to teach code at the Maker Faires like I have done before. With the birth of my baby brother, traveling too much was not possible. So I decided to do some gardening over the summer to learn something new! I got interested in Pollinators because I learned that one of the species of the BumbleBee family was an endangered species and needed our help. Our master gardeners at the Northampton county PA were teaching the public to create Pollinator gardens. This is when I realized how wasteful lawns were! I used the opportunity to enter a International competition called the Paradigm Challenge that was looking for ideas from kids ages 4-18 to come up with solutions to reduce waste in the environment! This is how I started working on my garden and my App!
