Alessandra Payne doing business as “Salvage & Shine” is an Afro-Caribbean American woman who grew up and was educated in upstate New York. Formerly a self-prescribed “art nerd,” she is currently leaning into the titles “Wearable Artist,” and Artisan Jeweler.” Her specialty is creating elegant wearable works of art using eco-conscious production methods. Alessandra started her business “Salvage & Shine in Albany, NY on October 2021 to prove that sustainable jewelry is fine jewelry. Alessandra is excited to pop up with a purpose at the Syracuse Maker Faire to celebrate women's right to work and everyone's right to work doing something they love to do regardless of how gooey, sticking, dirty, and dangerous that job can be! This art advocacy metal stamping workshop was originally designed for the NYS Office of General Services Specials Events Department to exhibit at their Hannaford Kids Expo 2025 in honor of Women's History Month.
