Explore EMF with Darcy Neal
Home: United States
I wrote the Electromagnetic Symphony article for Make Vol 90, and designed and produce the EMF Explorer kit. I will be showing off the EMF Explorer Badge near the Maker Shed store, where you can also buy one. My kit is easy to assemble, and takes between 30 mins and 1 hour to assemble, depending on the skill level. It's accessible to anyone who can use a soldering iron. Come check one out and see what kinds of sounds you hear! It's a very fun device to carry around/wear on a lanyard, and you can listen in on the EMF emissions from various Maker's electronics in a touch-free manner. I will also be leading build workshops for this kit. Seating is limited and there is a materials fee, please check-in with the Workshop area in Maker Coal Shed #4 early for more information. TY!

I love teaching workshops, and wanted to make a wearable badge that would be perfect for curious makers hanging out at various tech/maker events that anyone could engage with. I've taught this workshop at a handful of summits/events/festivals/universities and its been met with great success. I love seeing how excited students are when they hear EMF signals for the first time!
