MINIMA è una delle più piccole carrier board disponibili per il Compute Module 5 (CM5) di Raspberry Pi. Progettata per integrarsi in dispositivi compatti, è disponibile in diverse varianti specializzate, tra cui: AI (con moduli HAILO per machine vision) M.2 (per SSD PCIe) LTE/5G (con moduli SIMCOM) LoRaWAN (con SoC RAK3172) IO (con GPIO extra al posto dell’Ethernet) Le applicazioni spaziano da fotocamere intelligenti a sistemi robotici e modem custom. Il progetto, sviluppato in KiCAD e in parte certificato Open Source Hardware, dimostra come sia possibile realizzare elettronica high-speed con strumenti open source. MINIMA include connettività avanzata: USB-C PD, USB 2.0, Ethernet, HDMI, M.2, CSI/DSI, I2C, SPI e ventola. Il progetto ha attirato l’interesse di maker e youtuber come Manuel Imboden (per CubeSat) e Jeff Geerling. L'autore presenterà MINIMA alla Maker Faire con dimostrazioni pratiche, incluso un sistema di machine vision con classificazione immagini e stima pose tramite acceleratore HAILO.

Spacebar: Pinball Strikes Back

The Spacebar G.A.M.E. (Giant Arcade Machine Experience) returns to the Bay Area Maker Faire this fall. Having last been seen a year ago, the World's Largest Arcade Machine is returning with a new devastating weapon: VR Pinball Battle Masters. This 2-player asymmetric game pits a player on the outside of the virtual pinball table against a player who teleports inside the machine to operate a rocket launching cannon. The outer player now has to physically dodge rockets flying at their head while attempting to disable the deadly cannon inside. All while using our unique 3D-printed Pinball Simulation Hardware: the PinMaster 3000. This is pinball unlike any other in known galaxy.

Captain Rex Mini – Star Tours @ Home

Captain Rex Mini is a fully 3D printed animatronic robot capable of dynamic character performance using motors, lights, and sound. At 10" tall, he is a desktop-sized version of Captain Rex, the RX-24 pilot droid on the original 1987-2010 Disneyland Star Wars ride, Star Tours. At Maker Faire, he will be taking guests on a miniaturized flight to Endor. Come by and re-experience the ride! Captain Rex Mini has 7 degrees of freedom, blinking eyes, a "talking" mouth, and light up dashboard buttons. All components, including structure and geartrains, are fully FDM printed. He can either be manually remote controlled or perform prerecorded animations, including his Star Tours performance. Built in just under 2 months, this project pushes the limits on what's possible with consumer-level resources, utilizing the latest in high precision 3D printing, affordable electronics, and AI-assisted software development.

Projekt vznikl původně jako iniciativa zaměřená na popularizaci vědy, chemie a inovativní přístup ke vzdělávání. Postupem času se však jeho směr začal přirozeně posouvat – od edukace směrem ke skutečnému výzkumu. Dnes směřujeme k vědě, která si jednou najde své místo po boku institucí jako je Akademie věd nebo univerzity. Vědě, jejíž výsledky a objevy budou reprezentovat naši vlast v těch nejprestižnějších chemických časopisech světa. V tomto duchu je koncipována i naše expozice – jako příběh o tom, jakou vědu děláme a proč. Ostatně, už samotný název projektu mnohé napoví. Jde o tvorbu a poznávání nových molekul – nejen z čistě vědeckého pohledu, ale i jako způsob vyjádření estetiky v tom nejmenším možném měřítku. Molekula jako jeden z nejmenších stavebních prvků světa totiž v sobě nese nejen funkci, ale i krásu. Ale co si vlastně představit pod pojmem „vytvořit novou molekulu“? Jak něco tak nepatrného sestavit? Narážíme na dva zásadní problémy. Za prvé – chybí nám dostatečně malá „pinzeta“. A za druhé – svět na této škále je natolik rozmazaný, že jsme museli vytvořit ty nejbizarnější, ale zároveň extrémně přesné fyzikální teorie, abychom se v něm zorientovali. Jak to tedy vlastně funguje? Jak se dá molekula „vymyslet“ a „sestavit“? Naše expozice vám to ukáže. A protože popularizace vědy je pro nás stále druhou stranou téže mince, věnujeme jí zvláštní část. Tam vás čekají základy – prvky, z nichž se skládá svět kolem nás, a jejich uspořádání do systému, kterému říkáme periodická tabulka prvků. A možná v ní uvidíte něco víc než jen známý obrazec ze školních učeben…
