Mask Makers: Organizing a community of sewists to get masks to those in need
Virtually Maker Faire 2020
May 22nd-23rd
I have been coordinating a network of sewists since March. We have two virtual sewing groups each week so people can meet up, ask questions, get tips, and encourage each other. We set up no contact drop boxes for materials and completed masks. We have a web page of suggested patterns and videos. We created a request form for organizations in need and have partnered with the United Way For distribution. We have created and delivered over 3,000 masks to health care workers, soup kitchens, shelters, clinics, nursing homes and more.
