Minensweeper: the minesweeper arcade game

Virtually Maker Faire 2020

May 22nd-23rd

Exhibit

This game is a cross between minesweeper and Dance Dance Revolution. Instead of playing minesweeper on the computer, you play it on an array of LED illuminated tiles with switches. Each tile indicate how many mines are around based on its color. You can use these colors to deduce how many mines are in undiscovered tiles. You clear a tile by stepping on the switch and win if you step on all of the non-mine switches. However, if you trigger a mine, you lose the game as a strobe light fires and it shoots party streamers at you!

Talk covers game design, hardware design challenges, and how I overcame issues.
