[Makerspaces] Columbia & NYC Makerspace: Learning & Social Justice as Recreation
World Maker Faire New York 2018
September 22nd-23rd
Columbia MakerSpace is a uniquely student-run workshop founded in 2014, supporting a flourishing community of 1000+ users. But, due to university regulations, it is entirely private. So NYC Makerspace evolved: a non-profit developing a network of publicly accessible makerspaces across the city.
Mohamed Haroun
Mohamed Haroun is Manager of the MakerSpace of Columbia University, also his alma mater. Previously, in the mechanical engineering teaching lab, he taught the principles of CAD/CAM and prototyping techniques. He enjoys advising both the Columbia Space Initiative Rocketry and Formula SAE Car teams. His belief in social and economic justice through equal access led him to co-founding NYC Makerspace.

Max is the Co-Founder of NYC Makerspace, and Head of Design Thinking & Education at the Columbia Organization of Rising Entrepreneurs.
