Jason Yung is a new media artist and grad student at NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program.
The I Ching Machine is a divination machine that bringing traditional Chinese divination to the modern world by giving fortune through YouTube clips.
What inspired you to make this project?:
I was inspired to make the I Ching machine because the wisdom of the I Ching is not something that belongs to the past, but it’s wisdom is present with us all the time and can be seen everywhere. This is the case because the I Ching describes the laws of the universe which is constantly new, and constantly being expressed. Based on this understanding, it is possible to find these messages of wisdom everywhere, including on YouTube. The Machine attempts to do traditional-fortune telling through a new medium.
