This presentation will cover the general steps used to construct your own midi interface. Conceptualization, design considerations, sensors, electronics and prototyping will be discussed. We will also look at what to do with your device once it's completed.

Nick designed the Smomid as a way for a guitar player to interface with a computer. This instrument allows Nick to control beats, harmonies, manipulate audio samples, play melodies and program high powered LEDs to interact with sound. This instrument allows Nick to explore some of his interests including Algorithmic Composition, Artificial Intelligence and Fractal Rhythms.
