There are tools, and then there are great tools. If you’re making DIY laboratory equipment, how can you make it great? We’ll talk about what biologists need in the lab, simple hacks to make a device better and easier to use, and how to know when off-the-shelf components will beat homemade gear.

Prior to her move into industry, she spent 15 years as an academic researcher and a tenured government scientist, specializing in the identification, ecology and evolution of eukaryotic microbes.
