Be Disaster Ready
Home: California, United States
SVdP's Listos team will share disaster-preparedness guidance via hand-on displays and activities on how to pack a go bag, a stay box, and a pet emergency kit, equipping them with tools to make their homes and communities disaster ready.

Amanda Sylva
My name is Amanda Sylva, and I have had the privilege of working with St. Vincent de Paul for over three years. During this time, I have supported recovery efforts for four different wildfires, assisting individuals and communities as they work to return to their pre-disaster conditions. In response to the devastating Camp Fire in Paradise, the Listos California program was launched in 2019. "Listos" means "ready" in Spanish, which perfectly reflects the mission of my work—educating and preparing individuals and families for emergencies before disaster strikes. I am especially passionate about outreach to our senior and underserved communities, ensuring they have access to the knowledge and resources needed to build strong, personalized disaster plans. Helping people feel confident and empowered in the face of potential emergencies is at the heart of what I do.
What Inspired You to Make This?
We are so passionate about disaster preparedness after working in long term recovery. We feel like showing and assisting others with making a go bag and stay box is so helpful and informative.
