I make chandeliers, lamps and other unusual lighting objects using metal, wood and resin. Many of the materials I use are discarded or used and I find repurposing shapes and objects into new uses to be great fun for me and to viewers. Persistent ideas that I work with are histories of objects and continuance of space through representations of separation and the impermanence of things. I especially like the challenges and new ideas that unknown flaws of used or recycled parts bring to the work, as these require creative solutions that only seem to come up when I think I have failed.

Robot umanoide Uranus

Uranus is a humanoid robot with 24 degrees of freedom (DOF) developed by ERL with the goal of reaching a height of 80 cm, surpassing the limit of previous projects. Uranus was conceived as a project to exceed the height limit of 60 cm set by previous endeavors. In addition to its size, the control electronics are based on two levels of intelligence: - The lower level is based on an 8-bit microcontroller that manages and interpolates the movements of the servos. This is the Poldino Servo Board with a PIC18F4550 processor. - A Raspberry Pi Zero board handles high-level tasks. On the mechanical side, Uranus has 24 degrees of freedom. The joints, excluding the neck (2 DOF) and hands, are controlled by 60 kgcm servomotors. The neck and hands have smaller servos with 20 or 40 kgcm torque. Apart from the two degrees of freedom in the hips, the torso is also noteworthy as it features two additional degrees of freedom: inclination and rotation.

A large broken jar supports three beautiful giant fireflies, featuring interactive fire and LED elements at night, and providing an interesting destination during the day. The pieces of the jar contain seating, and glow during the night. Around the jar are smaller fireflies and benches, providing a welcoming destination. A fire pit in the middle of the space makes for a nice place to hang out, roast a marshmallow, and enjoy the scene. Each giant firefly contains a unique variety of participant-activated flame effects, with up to 24 buttons for people to push. LED illuminated fireflies surround the site, flickering glows in the sky, while an interactive soundscape creates an immersive environment.

Social and Autonomous robots: the MARRtino family

Innovators by vocation, making use of the collaboration with the Department of Automatic and Management Computer Engineering of the La Sapienza University of Rome, we work for the growth of the MARRtino family. In the space of a few years the family has expanded and perfected it by creating prototypes of educational and "useful" robots. Everything is open source (hardware and software) so it can be extended in any direction without constraints, an evolutionary robot as we usually define it. Based on ROS, a professional software (ROS) used in the best MARRtino research centers has been implemented and tested to perform many typical Robotics and Artificial Intelligence tasks, such as intelligent navigation, human-robot spoken interaction, image analysis.
