Featured Maker Faire Bay Area 2017 Makers:
Robot Band: The robot band consists of five humanoid robots, from 40 cm to 80 cm of height. Four of them play an electronic drums, two metallophones,and bells. (The unique drum set is made of acrylic.) One of them is a singer with voice synthesis.
The Pedal Powered Stage: Come pedal power live music performances from talented local bands and take part in our Energy Challenges, where you can go head to head with common electrical devices, trying to power them with your legs.
Young Makers: The Young Makers program brings together a community of young people with mentors and a space to make. In small clubs, participants work together to design and make a youth-chosen, open-ended project which they showcase at Maker Faire!
Bowyery and Blacksmithing: A group of highschoolers with interests woodworking and metalworking combined projects to display a collection of hand-forged knives and handmade wooden archery equipment.
Enunciation: Enunciation is made of stainless steel, LEDs, and acrylic. The exterior mirrors its environment with its reflective metal. The interior features changing colors and motions across 3500 LEDs. Buttons control the lighting's parameters.
The Exploratorium Light Play +: Explore light, shadows, and motion using rich materials to create your own kinetic vignette. Then take it to the next level with Scratch-based programming. Add your piece to a collaborative art installation.
Steam-powered Gears: Learn about large wooden gear construction. Witness those gears driving a 110-year-old automatic pencil sharpener! Follow along as KSW demonstrates the multi-color printing process on a set of letterpresses.
Swap-o-Rama-Rama: The ultimate clothing swap, DIY sewing lab, workshops that emphasizes reuse, recycling and re-purposing practices to reduce textile wastes with featured guest talks and Trashion Show on the Textile Lounge Stage.
Strawbees HoverCraft race track: Come and build HoverCrafts with the Strawbees team. Design your own HoverCraft and race against others on the race track.
Space Garden: Astro Botanicals Space Garden is a magical fairy tale forest of giant glowing flowers. Engage with the immersive imaginary environment in a non-virtual sensory creativity matrix.
Delorean Hovercraft: This hand-made Delorean is an amphibious vehicle that travels around by hovering on a cushion of air. Powered by gasoline engines and fans, it can carry two people over any relatively flat surface. For sale. Flux capacitor included.
Giant Cardboard Robots: Arm yourself with Giant Cardboard Robot Arms! The Revolution Will Be Corrugated.
R2-D2 and BB-8 Astromech Droids: The Bay Area R2 Builders is a group of hackers, makers, builders and above all, Star Wars fans who have built full size, fully functional R2-D2s. They bring their droids to the Maker Faire to share with makers, geeks, kids and fans.
Creature Quads: Creature Quads are interactive mechanical contraptions. They will be roaming around the Maker Faire looking for pilots and animators. I imagine they are tangible form of univerasal creative play.
Lotus: Lotus is a experiential light based installation, it is meant to be a place of rest in a chaotic world. As people rest and relax with sculpture it envelops you waves of color and you can discover how to unlock the deeper levels of the sculpture.

3D Stroboscopic Zoetrope by Peter Hudson: Kinetic sculptor and 3D Stroboscopic Zoetrope creator, Peter Hudson, takes the most primitive form of animation to an extreme level, incorporating creativity, art, engineering, technology, and fantasy into his delightfully captivating designs.

Invented Art - Poppy Sedoku Kinetic Art Sculpture: The California Poppy provides the color pallet. A Sudoku puzzle ensures each square is unique to its neighbor in color and stitch pattern. Wirework leaves and poppy photos complete the InventedArt sculpture.
