Solaramic Stoneware
Home: Arkansas, United States
Solaramic Stoneware is a solar powered, in-home ceramic studio in Fayetteville where all the tools for creating art have been constructed out of salvaged materials. We create carbon neutral, artistic pottery which we will have for sale.

Makers

Roslyn Imrie
Roslyn Imrie has been making pottery as a hobby since childhood but professionally for the past few years. She grew up in the rural Ozark hills and takes inspiration from nature to create artistic, functional pottery.

Matt Kennedy
Matthew Kennedy is the other half of Solaramic Stoneware. He built most of the studio tools including the handmade electric wheel and kiln controller. He also mixes all the glazes and adjusts the kiln to make the magic happen. Matthew's background is in science and so he enjoys the technical parts of running a ceramic studio.
What Inspired You to Make This?
During the 2020 pandemic, this couple needed a project to stay busy during lockdown. They saw an article on converting a treadmill into a pottery wheel, and so, when they found a free treadmill, they decided to give it a try! Once Matt had built the pottery wheel, Roslyn began to throw pottery and re-kindle a hobby that she had been unable to practice for a long time. From there, the studio and art grew! Roslyn pulls inspiration from nature. She presses leaves into clay and design her pottery to mimic the Ozark skylines. She enjoys earthy colors, raw clay bodies, and connecting people with nature through an art piece that they will use in daily routines.
