I have been a maker my whole life, growing up in my dad's woodworking shop. I've been building and battling model warships for over 20 years, starting in middle school. In the time since starting the hobby, I've earned two degrees in engineering, represented the US in an international robotics competition, and served for 10 years as a submarine officer in the US Navy. I now live in Chantilly, VA with my own model boat workshop and I attend battles across the US each year.

I've always enjoyed building things and mechanical design. I also enjoy Naval history and competition, and this hobby is the perfect fusion of those interests. Now that I work behind a computer screen all day, I savor my time in the workshop designing and building new ships. Events build great comradery and are a very enjoyable friendly competition.
