Before 2021, Alessandra Payne - a self-proscribed “Art Nerd”- enjoyed creating art for recreational enjoyment and created artwork in a variety of genres. As of 2023, Alessandra Payne leaned into the titles “Black female creative”, “artisan jeweler,” and “wearable artist.” As the owner and operator of Salvage & Shine, an artisan jewelry company established in October 2021, she sells elegant, innovative wearable art pieces that are eco-consciously handmade. Salvage & Shine products are available for purchase online at www.salvageandshine.com and in person at the Albany Institute of History and Art gift shop. At the Rochester Maker Faire, she is popping up with the purpose raise awareness on how to make wearable art that will create safe environments where everyone can party eco-consciously and drink responsibly.
