Maker Faire Bay Area 2024
MINIMA
Home: California, United States
MINIMA is a Bay Area startup founded by a 17-year-old high schooler. Through its products like the MINIMA Miniature Pottery Wheel 1.0 and the upcoming version 2.0, MINIMA aims to bring people out of the virtual world and find fun and entertainment in the real world. Miniature pottery allows you to have the same fun as large-scale pottery without its mess, all at your fingertips. Our products feature our flagship centering and opening arms, which make the two hardest parts of pottery, centering and opening the clay on the wheel, easy for all users. We are launching the second version of our MINIMA Miniature Pottery Wheel, MINIMA 2.0, very soon, and we would love for you all to come to our booth and try it out!

What Inspired You to Make This?
Back when COVID-19 struck, MINIMA's founder Saqib was only 14, and just like any other teen, very bored. In this lockdown, Saqib picked up a hobby of pottery, and in this hobby, he saw the potential for a business—a novel miniature pottery wheel. There were a lot of problems with conventional pottery and existing miniature pottery which he sought to solve with his idea. These problems include a large space requirement, low-torque/low-speed motors, a difficult learning curve for novices, and portability. Saqib also recognized the need for hands-on, real-life experiences in today's ever-growing digital world. With all of these inputs, Saqib founded MINIMA.
