LighTuT - A pair of lighting gloves for tutting dancers to highlight their moves for performance

Home: New York, United States

LighTuT is a wearable lighting device for tutting dancers, to help the visual highlighting of their hand choreography with lights. As a tutting dancer myself, I wanted to make something to highlight my tutting moves.

Hi everyone! I’m Donna Kim. I LOVE making things! My past hobbies include making plushies, paper crafting, bullet journaling(I used to make my diary covers myself), clay arts…and so much more! I’m also interested in entrepreneurship, which led me to try two crowdfunding projects based on making – Plushie nosework toy set for dogs, and a DIY paper pot herb growing kit. I am excited to dig deeper in hands-on making, and to see various ideas and perspectives of other makers!

What Inspired You to Make This?

As I was engaging myself to Woman Open Tech Lab in South Korea, I learned physical computing including arduino and tinkering with conductive materials. I dedicated myself to handcrafting with e-textile and conductive thread to make a wearable device, and that became the initial prototype for LighTuT.
