Golden Gate Marvel: A Playful Architecture
Home: California, United States
A 9-year-old architecture enthusiast, Sri, constructed a model of the Golden Gate Bridge using marshmallows, toothpicks, wool, and magnets. After researching the bridge's history and engineering challenges, such as the initial cantilever design and thermal expansion solutions, She applied creativity to build a miniature version. This hands-on activity not only fostered an understanding of engineering concepts but also provided a playful exploration of architectural design, resulting in an imaginative and educational representation of the Golden Gate Bridge. Join Sri in this creative project, where all materials, including marshmallows, toothpicks, and wool, will be provided to build your own Golden Gate Bridge.

I'm Sri, and I'm 9 years old! I love learning about science, history, and especially architecture. I enjoy building models of cool landmarks, like the Swedish Medical Center, the Eiffel Tower, and bridges. Inspired by the Golden Gate Bridge's history, I recently built a model. I think it's amazing how these massive structures work.
What Inspired You to Make This?
I'm Sri, and I'm 9 years old! I love learning about science, history, and especially architecture. I enjoy building models of cool buildings and landmarks, like the Swedish Medical Center from 1958, the Eiffel Tower, and different bridges. Recently, I was inspired to build a model of the Golden Gate Bridge using marshmallows, toothpicks, wool, and magnets after learning about its history and the challenges the engineers faced, like the initial cantilever design and how they solved thermal expansion problems. I think it's amazing how bridges look so big and beautiful, yet they can carry us from one side of a lake to the other. I like to learn about how these structures are built and what makes them so strong. In my free time, I like to experiment by building my own designs!
