Dastkaari began as a way to answer a question our daughters often asked: "What does our heritage look like?" As Indian and Pakistani Americans, we saw how rich traditions were fading in a world increasingly shaped by fast trends and Western norms. So, we started Dastkaari — a celebration of South Asian craftsmanship. Each hand-painted kettle, coffee pot, or bowl is a canvas of culture, telling stories in strokes of color passed down through generations. Our vision is to preserve these art forms, empower artisans, and create functional heirlooms for modern homes. Dastkaari isn’t just décor — it’s heritage you can hold, gift, and cherish.

What Inspired You to Make This?
My husband and I are history buff and the Indian and Pakistani culture is embedded in our DNA. We have had long chats about our heritage, tradition and culture that has transcended through time generation after generation. We both grew up in our countries and moved to the west to pursue our higher education. We met in college and got married and now have embarked on a new journey with our three beautiful daughters. Growing in the west has its perks, but we feel that our daughters are not able to experience our culture in the perspective as we did. I started to paint free style paintings with my eldest daughter and we came across paintings of India and Pakistan heritage ranging from the Grand Mosques of Badshahi Masjid to the magnificent and intricate Amar Fort. This passion embarked us to paint on different surfaces and finally lead us to create the masterpieces that gave birth to Dastkaari-a reflection of our culture
