FIRST Robotics Team 1880 | Warriors of East Harlem

Meet Jackie XIX, our 120-pound competition robot built by high school students for the 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition! See it in action as it drives, picks up, and launches 16-inch balls, with the chance to drive the robot yourself! Then, roll up your sleeves at our DIY station and create your very own pompom launcher to take home. You can also try your hand at coding with LEGO Spikes by programming a mini LEGO car to attempt to escape our impossible maze. Our booth is packed with hands-on fun, exciting engineering, and student-built creations. Come see what the Warriors of East Harlem are building!

Space Exploring Orrery Web App

Exploring Space is an educational tool designed to interactively educate people about the Earth, near-Earth objects, and the Solar System. Using NASA's resources, our team has created an Orrery Web App that gives detailed information about the Earth and near-Earth objects, an accurate 3D representation of the Solar System, and also includes astronomy news. Moreover, Exploring Space uses 3D models and displays the movement of planets in real time, which can help learners gain a clearer understanding of space. We have designed an interactive game where people can earn points for the correct answers, which can then be used to buy useful items in the store. We have embedded CosmoBot, a trained AI, which will be able to answer all the questions using information from NASA’s resources.

Tufting is a textile process where yarn is inserted through a backing fabric to create a pile or looped surface. It‘s a method commonly used to make rugs, carpets, and even some types of clothing. The process involves using a tufting gun to push the yarn through the backing, creating either a cut pile (where the loops are cut) or a loop pile (where the loops remain uncut.) The project/demo would be a hands on experience for people to use a tufting gun and get a general sense of the process‘s.

Edukativní šachovnice - jedná se o šachovnici, jež pomocí LED pásku zobrazuje hráčům nejlepší možné tahy. Pokud se zvedne figurka zvýrazní se pozice, kam lze danou figurku položit a kde stála před jejím zvednutím. Táhne-li hráč králem o dvě pole ve snaze provést rošádu, zvýrazní pole pro věž, aby byl tento tah korektně dokončen. To vše je doplněno bočním LED páskem, který podle počtu rozsvícených diod indikuje stav hry a míru výhody jednoho hráče nad druhým.

Osazovačka plošných spojů je převážně z 3D tištěných dílů a měla by být jednoduše složitelná/opravitelná jako například 3D tiskárna. Stroj pomocí vakua nabírá komponenty a precizně je umísťuje na plošný spoj. Z jiných projektů přivezu opět ukázat své arkádové ovladače spolu s monitory pro hraní retro her, svůj 3D tištěný NAS a jiné drobné projekty. Rád bych také zopakoval malé workshopy (u mě na stánku) pro ty, kteří by si chtěli vyzkoušet ruční osazení SMD součástek a vyrobit si blikající srdíčko.
