Smart Garden using Seeed Studio WIO Terminal

Faire: Lisbon

Maker: Seeed Studio

Home: Cataluña, Espanha

It is a workshop sponsored by Seeed Studio for the educational community, and delivered by POWAR, in which we will show teachers the capabilities of the WIO Terminal, an IoT device designed by Seeed Studio, to carry out projects related to environmental sciences and the internet of things. The WIO terminal has a light sensor, accelerometer, microphone, buzzer and screen integrated into the device, in addition to the possibility of connecting to WiFi and LoRa network. On top of that, Seeed Studio's WIO terminal works with sensors and actuators that don't need complicated connections or advanced electronics skills, making them perfect for learning as you just need to plug them in and load the code to start using them. In the workshop we will first teach teachers how to use and program some of these sensors, and then we will teach them to integrate them to create an intelligent plant monitoring system that can give us information such as ambient temperature, amount of light, relative humidity and soil moisture, and also warn us when the plant needs to be watered. We will also have some other sensors of different types for teachers to try during the workshop if they want.

EUREKA! : “Datemi un filo immerso in un liquido, dall’alto verso il basso, e vi indicherò il livello”

Faire: Rome

Maker: Giuseppe Fiordaliso

The peculiarity of this project is that it allows the measurement of the water level in all those sectors where industrial-type measuring devices are unacceptable both for the costs and for the skills required for implementation. This level measuring device uses a common insulated conductor immersed in water as a measurement probe. It consists of two parts: measuring probe with measuring electronics and microprocessor control unit. The two parts are connected via a non-polarized two-wire connection in order to simplify installation operations. The probe, of the capacitive type, consists of a simple insulated conductor wire, and can be made at a low cost and can be easily adapted by the user to his needs. The measuring range of the device goes from a few tens of centimeters to several meters without requiring particular additional components or specific components for the type of application. The measuring unit based on a microcontroller receives a digital current signal from the measuring probe and according to the settings made in the "user calibration" phase for the "empty" level and the "full" level, displays the value on a display of the level measurement in the range 0...100 %. The microprocessor also controls an output relay in correspondence with two level thresholds (low level setpoint and high level setpoint) freely settable by the user in the range 0…100% through a simple programming procedure. In the programming phase it is possible to choose whether the energized relay state must correspond to a level below the low level threshold or to a level above the high level threshold. In this way it is possible to operate an external device, always in safe conditions. The measurement has an accuracy better than 6% and is characterized by high reliability because there are no metal parts in contact with water or moving parts.

FPV IoT Micro Tanks

Faire: Rome

Maker: Oleksandr Poliakov

Many of us still remember how, as children, we spent hours in front of the TV, playing the legendary Battle City. And what would happen if the game was being developed these days? Of course we would want to play it over the Internet and perhaps with AR glasses. But what if we went even further and brought it into the real world? Where we could drive around in a handmade arena, or in a hallway. We can fire an infrared cannon at the enemy, or at his base. Or just chase pets? And since these are IoT tanks - we can control them from the browser. Or even write javascript code to control them!

Intelligenza artificiale come supporto alla diagnosi di epatocarcinoma

Faire: Rome

Maker: Sapienza Università di Roma

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary liver cancer worldwide. Early diagnosis is crucial to improve management and provide survival benefits to patients with HCC. We designed a Machine Learning (ML) and a Deep Learning (DL) for nuclei classification by using features extracted by immunofluorescence images. We demonstrated the ability of the proposed models to classify liver nuclei segmented by immunofluorescence images, thus suggesting a potential useful tool for pathologists in HCC diagnosis.
