Yvette Ellis
Yvette Bethea Ellis has been a practicing audiologist for over 30 years but in her free times she enjoys creative pursuits such as sewing and scrapbooking. Yvette, her late mother Lucille Villien, and brother Paul Villien have kept their family histories preserved in carefully curated albums for decades. These albums contain cherished mementos, letters, and photos from years gone by. Lucille was Yvette's first teacher and under Lucille's tutelage she became an accomplished sewist, creating many lovely garments and home decor items. Now Yvette is excited to share her experience with others to help them find the same creative joy that she has found.
What Inspired You to Make This?
I have been inspired for years by the Zero Waste Movement; mending, upcycling, and reusing resources are key tenets of the movement. I consider these craft projects as creative outlets for me and a small win for the planet. There are so many things in our lives that are beyond our control but with a few skills and a bit of patience we can take a little bit of our control back and make our corner of the world a better place.
