The Screaming Sun

The Screaming Sun

The Screaming Sun is a noise-making machine that gets both power and signal from light. The audience may affect the light source(s) that in turn affect the sounds produced.

What inspired you to make this project?:
This started out as an exploration of the 555 timer, solar panels and noise generation. When I started the project I was individually experimenting with each of those. I had worked a lot with Arduinos and other microcontollers but had never worked on analog circuits. I was also fascinated by noise generation. Eventually, I realized I could get the 555 timer to make noise under the sun using no batteries. The current state of the project is the result of a few iterations into these explorations, and I'm not sure where the next few iterations will lead.
