In Schools, It's the Problem, Not the Project

Learning through projects is just a first step, and not necessarily any more rigorous than a book report. The 19 schools in the Toms River Regional district in southern NJ have embraced a maker mindset in which students identify problems, collaborate on solutions, and find meaning.
Marc Natanagara, Ed.D.
Marc Natanagara has been a high school science teacher and PreK to 12 administrator for 31 years. His work has focused on bringing together diverse content areas, resources, and community members to collaborate on creative solutions and use a maker mindset to engage learners of all ages. He has helped create dozens of maker spaces and events, conducted workshops on integrated and problem based learning, and was a leader in writing over a million dollars in successful STEAM grants in the past two years.
