In its 31 years, the internationally-known arts space AS220 has grown from a single rented room to three buildings totaling 95,000 square feet with more to come. AS220 board member Brian Jepson interviews founder Bert Crenca to learn how anyone can create a space where nearly anything can happen.

Umberto Crenca is a visual artist, performance artist, and musician with a long exhibition and performance history. Crenca’s solo exhibitions have included the Galleria Del Corso (Latina, Italy) and the Newport Art Museum (Newport, RI), as well as four solo shows at the AS220 Galleries. Crenca is the Founder of AS220, Rhode Island’s unjuried, uncensored, and all-ages forum and home for the arts.
