Lumanoi Interactive Light Sculptures
Home: Oregon
Lumanoi is a series of wall-mounted interactive light sculptures that are designed, engineered, and assembled by Robert Quattlebaum in Ashland, Oregon. These light sculptures are interactive—waving your hand an inch or so in front of the sculpture causes ripples to emerge and radiate across the works. It feels like magic. Robert will be showcasing three unique works, as well as showing some works-in-progress, allowing you to see how he designs, fabricates, and assembles his interactive light sculptures.

Robert Quattlebaum
Robert is a life-long tinkerer and maker of things. Over the past two decades he has had the honor of working at Apple, Nest Labs, and Google, and his contributions continue to run on millions of devices across the world. Yet something was missing. Writing software just wasn't enough anymore. He wanted to make things from the ground up, start to finish—but also reconnect with the core of what got him into his career in the first place: the joy of watching other people interact with—and enjoy—the things that he makes. In May of 2024, he left his successful software engineering career at Google to start something new: something where he could design and make innovative objects at the intersection of art, technology, and interactive design.
