My name is Katie Pelon and I'm an environmental educator in Los Angeles, California. I author and illustrate my children's books and nature journals, self-publishing my own books. My mission is to create engaging, educational experiences that inspire young learners to protect the ocean. In my free time, I enjoy tide pooling, reading, and whale watching. I'm always exploring Southern California (and sometimes beyond!).

My personal passion for marine mammals, professional experience in environmental education and community science, and existing connection with community members all comes together to drive my motivation for filling this identified conservation need: observing and documenting declining harbor seal populations in Los Angeles County.
