Call for Makers Maker Faire Bay Area 2014
Maker Faire showcases the amazing work of all kinds and ages of makers—anyone who is embracing the do-it-yourself (or do-it-together) spirit and wants to share their accomplishments with an appreciative audience.

Entry Opened: Monday, January 6, 2014
- Maker Exhibit – an all-weekend exhibit to demo your project(s) (includes Commercial Makers)
- Performer – a scheduled performance, usually on a stage, set lengths vary
- Presenter – a scheduled 10, 20 or 45 minute presentation, usually on a stage
- Sponsor – established companies or commercial entities
- Startup Sponsor – startup companies: <5 yrs in business, <10 employees, etc. **The Startup Application for Maker Faire Bay Area 2014 is now CLOSED. If you are interested in World Maker Faire New York 2014 or Maker Faire 2015, please submit your information through this form and we will reach out when applications are open.** .

Entry InformationTo apply, use the blue application link above which best fits your proposal: Maker Exhibit, Performer, Presenter, Sponsor, or Startup Sponsor. If you do not yet have a Maker Profile, you will be prompted to create one before you are given access to the application form. After you have created and verified your maker profile, you will be brought back to this page to gain access to the entry form.
Immediately after submitting your application, you will be sent a confirmation letter with your Exhibit Name and ID number. If you have not received this letter, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
We particularly encourage exhibits that are interactive and that highlight the process of making things.

Entry Form TypesMaker Exhibit: Individuals, groups, schools and organizations that would like to demonstrate what they make and/or how it works in an all-weekend exhibit space; interactive exhibits are encouraged. For maker groups, please have one point person to coordinate your efforts. No fee for standard Maker Exhibits. Maker Exhibit can also include these two sub-types:
- Non-Profit and Cause or Mission Based Associations, Institutions and Organizations: In an effort to respond to requests from a variety of organizations that would like to participate in Maker Faire, we have created a special category where organizations can qualify for special reduced rates to participate in Maker Faire based on their annual budget. (Please note that this fee is due for a 10 x 10 space only and does not include electrical, internet or other requirements.) Complete the Maker Exhibit Form, and we will contact you with details. This statement does not apply to makerspaces or hackerspaces, which receive free exhibit space at Maker Faire. If your organization cannot afford this fee, please continue to fill out the application, indicate you are a Non-Profit or Organization and provide details in the space indicated. We will take this into consideration while reviewing your application.
- Commercial Makers: Individuals who would like to sell or market products along with demonstrating what they make at their maker exhibit. Submit a Maker Exhibit application and indicate that you are a Commercial Maker. There is a fee of $475 for a standard set-up (fee due May 1st). Please note, established companies or commercial entities do not qualify as Commercial Makers; we have great opportunities available for you—please see Sponsors.
Sponsors: Companies and commercial entities are welcomed as sponsors at Maker Faire. For more information about becoming a sponsor, please see Sponsors.
Startup Sponsors: This special sponsorship package provides young companies the opportunity to benefit from the the unparalled exposure of a presence at Maker Faire. A select panel will review applications based on innovation and creativity of product or service, and will grant space to the top 16 entries. Sponsorship fees apply. Entry Form Photo InformationWhen applying, you are required to provide a project (or presentation) photo and a bio photo. Please have these ready before you start your application.
Other Ways to Participate at Maker FaireCrafters: If you are an indie crafter, and your primary intent is to sell your products at Maker Faire, apply to San Francisco Bazaar. SF Bazaar is an independent craft faire held within Maker Faire. Both Commercial Makers and SF Bazaar vendors are a part of Maker Faire. SF Bazaar is an area dedicated to people who are only selling their wares. Commercial Makers outside of the SF Bazaar space exhibit in various areas of the event, demonstrating what they make; Selling is a side-addition to their DIY demonstration; not the focus of their exhibit.

Food Vendors: Food concessionaires follow a different application process. Do not fill out the entry forms above. If you are interested in food vending at Maker Faire, please email details to email@example.com.
What Happens NextImmediately following your submission, you will receive and email confirming that we have your application. If you don’t receive this email, let us know: firstname.lastname@example.org. Acceptances are sent via email approximately 2 months before the show. Once accepted, begin to plan for your participation. We will send regular Maker Newsletter updates and your Maker Agreement in advance of the event.
