Polyshrink Art
Home: New York, United States of America
Welcome to the wonderful world of Polyshrink art! In this workshop we’ll be drawing with colored pencils on Polyshrink sheets. The work is then placed in a toaster oven where the heat shrinks the image to its original size, in this case 11/2”-2”. The color intensifies and details become impossibly small. Come and be amazed! Frames not included.

What Inspired You to Make This?
I first learned about Polyshrink at the San Francisco Children’s Museum in the 1990’s. I attended an art fair with my daughter. I tried it out and loved it! I discovered that it was a great medium for my art. All the kids in our neighborhood, who came over our apartment to make them with us on a regular basis. When I started working for SFUSD, I’d bring my toaster oven to school along with some Polyshrink, and students were always intrigued and excited by the dramatic transformation of their art to miniature dimensions. Now that I’m in New York, I plan to continue my mission as the Jonny Appleseed of Polyshrink.
