Maker Faire Long Island 2025
NY Sun Works Hydroponic Classrooms
Home: New York, United States of America
In our workshop, participants will have the opportunity to take on a design challenge to create their very own passive hydroponic systems, with all supplies needed to grow their plant at home. We will begin with an informational presentation introducing participants to the science of hydroponics and its importance in urban landscapes. Participants will then have the chance to discuss and dispel common climate myths. As you're exploring the fair, attendees can also visit the NY Sun Works booth to talk more about the program and to see a small-scale hydroponic system in action.

NY Sun Works
NY Sun Works is a non-profit organization that builds Hydroponic Classrooms in city schools to teach the science of sustainability through urban farming. Through our comprehensive curriculum, we engage K-12th grade students and educators in hands-on, standards-based sustainability and climate education – all while students grow hundreds of pounds of produce per year.
