Nifty's Computer Museum

Home: Massachusetts, United States of America

Nifty’s Computer Museum is located on Cape Cod, in Massachusetts. We specialize in historical personal computers, celebrating the evolution of “home computing” through the 20th century. Using a blend of modern and vintage tools, we endeavor to preserve and restore this aging technology. At our museum, visitors are encouraged to experience our exhibits with hands-on access to real, antique equipment. In addition to our other projects showcased at this event, you can visit our booth to see a demonstration of our genuine antique computers.

What Inspired You to Make This?

For nearly 15 years, our team has been exploring the history of personal computers. The antiquity of these machines only becomes more fascinating with time, and we keep discovering new stories about each piece in the museum's collection. With deeper research, we learn more about the real people and events behind the creation of these distinct pieces of technology. Even when some devices do not individually represent a major shift in technology, they often play a role as part of a broader evolution that comes from human innovation and unique development decisions. As we look back at these often forgotten moments in time, we find the stories that shifted the fate of the world, one gadget at a time. With the resources afforded by modern technology, we are able to make use of archives and upgrades to fully realize and expand the potential of these ancient computers. Along the way, we are finding ways to share that development with the rest of the world so we can all celebrate this fascinating history together.
