Modular Origami - Paperfolding Fun

Home: Ohio, United States

There's a little magic in turning a simple piece of paper into a bird... or a flower, or a fish, or a dragon. See examples of Origami projects in a variety of materials - including geometric shapes made with modular origami. This presentation is also hands-on - learn how to make your own origami from several projects to take with you. Or pick from free samples. All ages will enjoy the brightly colored paper and interesting shapes.

I've been folding paper - and teaching other folders - for over 30 years. There's always something new to learn and I like to experiment with different materials (paper, metal, cloth, etc.) and with scale - from tiny birds smaller than a thumbnail to giant objects limited only by the size of the paper. My specialty is modular origami - creating hundreds of identical shapes and fitting them together to make complicated geometric shapes. I'm an alumni and employee of The University of Akron as the Director of Web Services (aka the Webmaster). When I'm not folding paper, I'm either reading, working on webpages, or writing haiku.
